We are is pleased to confirm that today, 29 August 2024, marks the completion of the acquisition and handover of control of the Illawarra assets, including the Appin and Dendrobium Mines, from South32.
Following the transaction announcement in late February 2024, all conditions have now been met and GM 3 has assumed control and ownership of the assets.
GM3 is a metallurgical coal mining company with a focus on safe and consistent production and a vision for growth.
GM3 CEO Jason Economidis will commence his role today on what is a milestone for the new metallurgical coal company.
“We are very pleased the transaction is now complete and we can start to plan for the future,” Mr Economidis said.
“We know strong operational performance will underpin future opportunity.
“We are proud to be part of the communities surrounding our Appin and Dendrobium Mines and we are committed to the area’s long-term future for our people, their families, and the broader community.
“I want to acknowledge everyone who has contributed to finalising this transaction and minimising impacts on the Appin and Dendrobium teams who have remained focussed on safe and reliable production in recent months.
“I would also like to acknowledge South32 for their stewardship of these assets and for their support of the GM3 purchase and transition.
“We are proud to be supplying essential metallurgical coal to our customers and we look forward to a bright future as coal miners,” Mr Economidis said.
